In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare asked the question “What’s in a name?” and it’s a question that we’ve been thinking about quite a bit too over the last few months.
As we grow bigger and reach the end of our beta phase, our name becomes increasingly important in helping us acquire new development opportunities and investors. So, from the beginning of June 2018 we’re changing our name to Propio.
Why are we changing our name?
Whilst we and our customers liked “Prop”, just try entering it into Google and you return about 220,000,000 search results. This is simply something we decided not to compete with at this stage in our journey. We’d prefer to focus our time and energy on the other exciting developments we’ve got in the pipeline rather than taking on both the film industry and the world of rugby!
In addition to this, we couldn’t purchase prop.com which meant that lots of people had trouble finding us at investwithprop.com – not massively helpful when you’re trying to launch a business!
This leads us to introduce our new name, Propio. We realise it’s not a million miles away from ‘Prop’, and it still relates to property, but the I and the O represent input and output (how our platform works) and also, quite poetically, Propio literally means ‘to own’ in Spanish – perfect for a platform where investors own a share of a loan or part of a project.
The main difference will be our new URL – we will move from investwithprop.com to propio.com (much easier to remember and type). You might need to clear your cache to access this, and you may need to re-enter your username and password when visiting the site as it will no longer be saved on your browser. We will be putting in a redirect from investwithprop.com to make the transfer as easy as possible. Don’t worry, the website will operate in exactly the same way, there will just be a few changes to our branding.
We have introduced our new logo which helps get Propio out into the big wide world and we’ll be changing our name on our social channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn), so make sure you look out for any updates.
We’re very excited about this new chapter in our growth, and to paraphrase Shakespeare, we assure you that a rose by any other name will smell just as sweet.
